Jim, I think this piece captures the eerie quality of the music very well, and the whole thing holds together visually quite strongly as well. I loved the comment you got about the supreme power of nature; your piece certainly evokes that to me (large fires, tornadoes, volcanic eruptions), even though your music was more unsettling than violent. While I like the layering of the vine-like forms, my feeling is that more of them should go off the edges -- especially the left and right edge. It might also have been nice to see more variation in scale (some thicker linear forms and some even more delicate). The background is really dramatic, and I think the patchy quality is effective. Overall, I think it's a very strong piece -- emotionally evocative and strangely beautiful at once.
