Vivian, this is quite an explosive composition. I really like the circle pattern, although I'm having trouble imagining what kind of tool you used. The busyness of this composition is a good thing, I think, but I wish the darker splotches continued off the lower left corner. Something about their placement feels random to me -- but then again, perhaps the randomness is significant? It's great to see you experimenting with abstraction. I do think you'll get something useful out of it.
I really enjoy this piece, Vivian! That shape in the lower right hand corner is especially expressive and captivating. I think you could do a series of these with different colors and perhaps put text or images over top for a poster campaign. It would be quite effective as a design element. Alone, it seems just a little cramped. Maybe some areas where the marks thin out and more white paper remains would be interesting. Great work!
I can tell that she really used lots of different materials to make this drawing, and I really appreciate it!. The mark, which looks like a splashed shape, reminds me of gravity art, and it is fascinating to look at lots of dots, and I'm curious about which material she used for that. I think she could have used lighter-toned inks to give a variety of opacity because it looks like all the marks have the same value, but I really enjoyed looking at this drawing!
