Christine midterm

  1. Christine, for the most part, I think this came out great. It was a very ambitious piece! I find the composition so striking, and I love the way you drew the label on the lower left. There's so much terrific drawing in this piece; I'm particularly drawn to the praying hands, the bird at the bottom, and the faces. I know you regret that it's not in color, but I think there's something nice about the dark (or at least ambiguous) mood. I do wish I could see some of the other elements more clearly. The male genitals at the top seem so crucial, and yet we can't really see them at all. I wonder if you can make that part more clear. Also, there's a bit of a perspective issue up there at the top. At the top of the scepter it looks like we're looking at it straight on, whereas at the bottom it looks like we're seeing it receding from us. I wonder if you could set something up to help you observe this better. I think it's well worth fixing, because this is such an original drawing. Even if people can't get your exact meaning just from what they see, there's enough mystery and intrigue to keep people's attention for a long time.
