Yunxin, this is a very interesting drawing in many ways (the vivid color, the loose mark-making), but I don't see much in the way of optical blending going on. You start to get at this down in the neck and chest area -- and even in the face. I wish you had stuck to that, especially for the hat or whatever is on her head. Those colors look blended in the conventional way (i.e., with the pigment blended directly on the paper). As it is, the drawing of the person is too realistic for what we're after here.
This is such a neat piece, Yunxin! I especially love the collarbone/shoulder area of the figure, the colors are so complex and appear to undulate or sparkle. I agree with Professor Roniger, the face is a little tightly rendered. Going in with some of those fun colors you have in the lower body could help with that if you use them to reinforce the grid. Again, this piece is lovely to look at, nice job!
It is a really interesting drawing, Yunxin. I like your mosaic feeling of background, and the style of her hair. I think you can add more complementary color to this which can make the color looks richer.
i love it. i love the idea, the way how you did this, the back ground, everything. your work always interests me. the only thing i could say is maybe on her face there can be a bit more shape definition in your colors. i feel the blending a lot in the face but maybe use a bit more vibrant colors just a little bit so we don't lose the cool colors in the skin
Such a unique drawing, Rhett! I love the use of colors that you've incorporated into the piece, particularly the hair and the figure's neck, which adds some tonal values and when you step back to take a look at the piece, they blend very well together. I do agree with what everyone else is saying in that the face looks very rendered. You can easily go back and add some more colors in there so that the face doesn't look outlined. Other than that, great job!
I think the background of this drawing is very interesting. It kinds of remains me of a tile wall. At the same time, I like how you mixed the color on your character's face. I suggest you to add a bit more color in the background, therefore the background could look more vibrant.
I love the colors of the decoration on her head! I can see so many colors and I think it is really beautiful! But maybe you can also use more colors on the other part of the drawing. The whole piece is so cool!
There is no doubt that this is a very wonderful painting, although I don’t see much optical blending Part, but I still like it. I think maybe you can be bolder in color

ReplyDeleteI like your work so much ! although some color don’t have the sense of optical blending, I think they’re working.
