Michelle, it was ambitious of you to work with such small squares, and you managed to stick with it for the whole piece. And while I like the colors you used, I don't get much in the way of optical blending. The reason for this is that the colors in your squares are dominated by a single hue for large parts of the drawing. If you had let the little bits of color in the middle of the squares be bigger, you would have achieved more of the effect. I'd also like to see more blue in the hair and more brown and red in the blue background -- and more of both down in the red. What we're after is a much softer feel, and one where the figure is really integrated into the space.
I really love these colors, Michelle! They give me an Art Nouveau poster design feeling. I think it would be interesting to incorporate even more colors, especially a rich purple in those yellow areas. The eyes are rendered great, they seem to follow and engage with the viewer. Great work!
this is a cool idea. i do feel like if we were allowed to use bigger pieces of paper your idea could have more of an interesting flow to it. i like the color i just feel like there should be more variety of color instead of just using green in the center of every color. maybe some purples or yellows maybe even orange
This is such an interesting piece, Michelle. I applaud you for going with smaller squares, as you can achieve a lot more detail. I also think that the colors you used were great as well. However, I don't really get the sense of detail on the face. You have the basic structure down, but I can't really see a face in there. I think what you can do is add more colors which will add more variety to the piece. Other than that, good job!
This is very cool to watch, I really like how you sort of add shapes inside shapes. I really like your drawing. If you could blend the color a bit more, it might looks even better, because currently the color feels a bit simple.
This is so unique and interesting, It’s full of childishness! I suggest you can have more values of the same color because your yellow and red part is solid
I think the way you draw the eyes is so interesting! they looks like two butterflies. But maybe you can add some darker colors on the face and neck to draw the shadow.
This drawing is really cute! I love the patterns that you made on the eyes. I think you. can use more dark-toned colors to give more sense of values to the face

ReplyDeleteMichelle, I am really impressed by the eyes you created. It looks really interesting. Also the cold background makes the warm color stand out.

ReplyDeleteYour drawing looks cute, a bit like a tile collage. But I think your boundaries are too clear. You can try to blur the border.
