Lee monochrome

  1. I really like this piece, Lee! The use of brown and red on the structure to the left is great. I think for the Eiffel Tower in the background, maybe you could add some darker colors to the outline of the shape, so that it's more defined. But other than that, I think you knocked it out of the park. I can feel the mood of a rainy afternoon. Great job!

  2. Lee, I love the softness of this drawing, and the color is indeed very rich. While the colors are subtle, I do see hints of red and even blue blended in with the yellow and brown. My only suggestion is that you may want to introduce some purple here and there (in the shadow areas, for example), since introducing a color's complement tends to make that color richer. And I'm not sure you need those delicate white lines delineating the figures. I think your pastel work does plenty to define the shapes. Finally, you definitely changed the mood of the piece in that you've made it more subtle, more ambiguous, and perhaps more dreamlike. Really nice job overall.

  3. I really love the creative liberties you have taken both with the color and the form, Lee! The color is indescribable, reminding me of an old-timey sepia photograph. I like how the two figures on the right are more suggestive then the original photograph, giving a mood of joy and love. I think that light shape in the sidewalk should be more defined on the left edge, where it kind of breaks off. Otherwise, great job!

  4. the colors are interesting and it all in a way blends together the original picture had a rainy affect and this doesn't really which i think is cool. this kind of reminds me of an under painting. it might be a bit more interesting to have a few vibrant other colors in other places.

  5. I guess it is a yellow monochrome. There is a sense of romantic and warm! I really like it. However I think maybe adding more blue or purple would make this painting more great.
