Vivian, this is a very intriguing drawing! The format is quite striking, and I like the way everything converges on that eye. Your colors vary widely, and I definitely get a sense of optical blending. I especially like your treatment of the lips (that blue half-rectangle makes all the difference in the world), and the fading of the face on the left is very beautiful. On thing you might consider is putting a few more hints of light color in the bright highlight areas (the linear shape comprising multiple units that extends up from her eye and the side of the face on the right). If these areas were muted just a bit the drawing would have a softer feel. I also think you might consider breaking up the hard edge of the face on the right just a bit. Compare this to the way you handled the chin, jaw, and neck, where the contour is softened by darker colors interspersed with the lighter. Overall, very nicely done.
vivan my mouth dropped when i saw your piece. i love the colors the shapes it makes me feel like i'm looking at her through one of those toy telescope that have jewels in them and create different shapes. im not exactly sure what i can say to make the piece better but i do love it a lot
The composition is really interesting, and it really works well on this piece. Shapes are interesting, and I can see that it works well as optical blending drawing. I think the black background makes the color more vivid, and I think it was really wise to do that. I think it would be much better if she used a more lightened-toned color than the darker-toned color, but still, I enjoyed looking at this work!
This is a great composition, Vivian! I love the rays that you've used to incorporate the different blotches of colors in each section. The face is constructed beautifully as well. I agree with Taney in that you should break up the harsh line of the face to make the shape more unintentional if that makes sense? Overall, great work!
This drawing is so mysterious! I like your idea of making rotary shapes, and the color you use works well for optical blending. But I think maybe you can use some lighter color for the nose. The piece is so beautiful!
I think your composition is really wonderful and special. I like your black background to make the whole picture look dramatic and mysterious. I think it's perfect, I have no other suggestions.

ReplyDeleteI really like the shape and composition of this drawing, The color and shape worked very well on this one, the black background also looks awesome.
ReplyDeleteI really like your idea it’s innovative! I think die in the cheek don’t fit in the shape quite well but I don’t know how to fix it.
