Nanxi Cubism 2

  1. Nanxi, you've created a terrifically dynamic composition here. I like the movement of the whole, and the distribution of lights and darks is great. The corners and edges were obviously considered -- those are very well handled. All that said, I can't really get a sense of you original still life. Perhaps you can go in and add just a few more pieces -- little slivers of your objects that will give us some clues? It shouldn't take much. You want it to be subtle rather than obvious and literal. Great job overall. For someone who knows nothing about abstraction you're certainly getting the idea!

  2. Wow, this is so impressive! I think it has a really nice since of depth and space while still retaining that cubism feel. The squashed, more elongated shapes on the bottom of the piece give hints at a floor or tabletop. The one thing that feels off is that solid black shape in the upper left corner, perhaps some more shapes could be incorporated there. Great work!

  3. The picture is haunting and very beautiful, like a dream you can't figure out.
And the picture asks questions. Always important!
What are the reasons for the elements? What does the mood mean?!!!

  4. It look super abstract and amazing. For me it looks more like drawing instead of collage, but I really appreciate the unified feeling that you created.

  5. this just so cool to look at. the shaped lead my eyes to different places and the variety of shading just added texture to the whole thing. the shapes are just so fun that they kind of feel like they pop out. maybe something that could possible help this piece is at some spots there should be a little bit more consistent color in.
