Carson Cubism 2

  1. Carson, I really like what you did with the lighter negative space shapes here -- they look really scrambled, but not in an arbitrary way. There I do get the sense of something seen from multiple angles simultaneously. But with the rest of the objects, you put all the pieces exactly where they would go to make a conventional picture! I think you need to do a lot more to break up those larger objects. Scramble the pieces just like you did with the other ones! I think this could be a very strong piece. See what you can do to break up those objects and distribute the parts around the whole. Also, I'd like to see all that negative space covered with collage pieces. Right now the composition looks awkward, but it could work with more going on in that unused space.

  2. Wow, this method of collage is really interesting! I thought it was woven at first. I agree with Professor Roniger, you could definitely play more with the empty space, perhaps repeating your objects. I think it would be beneficial to focus on dispersing dark and light tones, that would help bounce the eye around and make the piece a bit less literal. Again, excellent job with this! The tactical elements work perfectly and it's going to look even better with that space filled.

  3. i love the idea a lot. i think how you laid everything out could be played with more. like the screen could have some cool colors on it or the whole image could look like it gliched. just imagine parts of the computer are in different places and things are all over the paper
